I enjoy writing...so submitted my poetic description of what Colorado looks like to me! Read it while seeing the local art! Mine is adjacent the purple/blue columbine oil painting as you head toward security.
For first-time visitors and for those who call Colorado home, Denver International Airport is pleased to present a juried art exhibition, "Colorado: See the New West Like a Local."
On display are 78 artworks and writings highlighting Colorado from the people who know Colorado best - the locals. Colorado residents with diverse viewpoints, interpretations and backgrounds submitted more than 300 original poems and statements expressing their vision of Colorado. Artists around the state interpreted the best of these submissions in many different media.
A panel of respected members of the Denver art and business community made their recommendations to DIA after reviewing 697 artworks submitted by 407 artists. This exhibition showcases the collaborative efforts of many talented Coloradans, and will be seen by several million people during its display at the airport.
DIA would like to thank the writers, poets and artists from all areas of the state who participated in DIA’s call for entries.
